# Missions

A **Mission** is an outcome you want Perisclaw to own from start to finish. It
suits work that takes several steps, may move across chats, and should keep
going without you remembering each follow-up.

You don't need to choose “Mission” or set anything up. Ask naturally in
WhatsApp and Perisclaw decides when a request needs ongoing follow-through.

> **A request that becomes a Mission:** Make sure Kabra has an airport cab for Tuesday. Get the flight details, arrange it, confirm with him, and tell me if anything fails.

Other requests that work the same way:

* *“Coordinate the family dinner for Saturday. Find a time everyone can make,
book within ₹8,000, and check with me before changing the budget.”*
* *“Get the signed agreement from the vendor by Friday. Follow up when useful
and escalate if they refuse the latest terms.”*

Perisclaw starts by telling you its plan. It can then gather facts from the
relevant conversations, complete steps, wait for replies, and revise the plan
as things change. If a decision goes beyond what you allowed, it comes back to
you as a question.

## Follow progress

Open **Missions** in the dashboard for a simple status view. Each card answers
three things: what Perisclaw is taking care of, whether it is working or needs
you, and how much of the plan is finished.

Open **Details** when you want the full plan, dates, the original request, or
the factual activity record. Completed and archived Missions stay under
**Finished** with their final state shown, and every Mission keeps a stable
details page you can return to later.

## Change or stop one

Most changes are easiest to make by talking to Perisclaw in your self-chat:

* *“For the cab mission, use a larger car.”*
* *“Stop, Kabra has arranged it himself.”*

Perisclaw applies the correction to the live plan. On a Mission’s details page,
the dashboard chat is tied to that exact Mission, so a question like *“Why was
this archived?”* cannot land on the wrong one. A Mission that reaches its end
date without finishing is archived, not left running forever.

## Missions, tasks, and automations

These have different owners, and you rarely have to pick between them:

* A **task** is one item on your plate.
* An **Automation** says when something should happen or repeat.
* A **Mission** owns a goal end to end and decides the next step as things
  change.

A Mission may schedule its own check-ins, but you never set up reminders or
workflows for it. Perisclaw handles that.

**Note: When a Mission wakes up**

Perisclaw does not act on every new message. If a Mission is waiting on a
reply in a chat, the next message there triggers a check. Everything else
  waits for the planned review.

When you want something to repeat (every morning, or whenever a matching
message arrives), use an [Automation](/automations) instead.

### [Set up recurring work](/automations)

For behavior that repeats on a schedule or trigger rather than a one-time goal.

### [Track your commitments](/track-commitments-and-tasks)

See what you owe, what you are waiting on, and hand any item back to Perisclaw.
